A senior Iranian commander scoffs at the enemies’ stepped up war rhetoric against the country.

He stressed that Iran’s Army is fully prepared to give a “prompt and smart” response to any possible threats.

“If anybody seeks to implement a threat, he will receive a crushing response from Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic who have a very rapid and strong capability,” Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told reporters on Friday.

Those who have an illusion of threat and aggression against Iran should know that the country’s Armed Forces enjoy high military preparedness and capability, he added.

The commander further emphasized that a major military parade held on Friday on the occasion of the beginning of the 'Sacred Defense Week' conveyed the message of peace and friendship to Iran's friends and one to enemies that the Islamic Republic is ready to confront any possible threat.

Pourdastan said the capability of Iran's Armed Forces, which has been displayed during the parade, carries the message that regional countries have the potential to establish security and stability in the Middle East and have no need to foreign forces.

Israel is stepping up threats of carrying out a unilateral strike against Iran’s nuclear energy facilities before the US presidential election on November 6. However, the US opposes any Israeli military action at the current juncture.
