Syria welcomes the Russian proposal: the Syrian diplomacy wins and US aggression is over
The Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Walid al-Muallem, said that Damascus welcomes the Russian proposal to put Syria’s chemical weapons under control.
Al-Muallem, in a press conference in Moscow, said in response to the Russian proposal: I announce that the Syrian Arab Republic welcomes the Russian initiative because the Syrian leadership is keen on maintaining the security of its country and also keen on protecting the lives of its citizens. The Syria leadership does trust the wisdom of the Russian leadership to stop the aggression against Damascus.
The Russian Minster of foreign affairs, Sergey Lavrov, had announced a Russian proposal given by the Syrian leadership through Walid al-Muallem, the minister of foreign affairs. This proposal suggests putting the chemical weapons in Syria under international control in order to avoid a military strike.
Sergey Lavrov called upon the Syrian leadership not only to reach an agreement in order to reveal the places of the chemical weapons, but also to destroy them and join the Organization for the Prohibition of the Chemical Weapons.
Analysts considered this as a victory for the Syrian diplomacy that managed to undermine the possible aggression and saved the Middle-East from an imminent world war.
